Event Details

Learn how to quilt a 12.5 x 40" Table Runner with quilter Melissa Huisman. Class is $10/person, payable at the class.

Skill level: Beginner with working knowledge of a sewing machine. Class is for adults (ages  16+)

Materials needed: 
Woven cotton fabric:
- Feature fabric (medium to large print), ¼ yd. (not a fat quarter as it has to be at least 42” long)
- Inner Border, 1/8 yd
- Outer Border, 1/8 yd.
- Backing fabric: 14” x 44”
- Fusible interfacing or Fusible fleece

Notions: Thread to match fabrics. Tassels, if desired. 

Equipment/Tools: Scissors, pins, seam ripper, long acrylic ruler, rotary cutter and mat, sewing machine.

Provided: Iron, ironing surface. 

Skills learned: Cutting fabric with a rotary cutter, pinning pieces, sewing ¼” seams, pressing, securing the layers with stitching using a regular or walking foot, preparing, sewing & topstitching the backing onto the quilt. Optional methods for finishing the edges of the piece with batting and binding will be explained as well.
