This is NOT a Book Club is not your traditional book club. Patrons ages 9 and up are invited to join us at the library for a club just for kids. On the day of the program, we will hang out, talk about the book, create a themed craft, and play games. Once you have registered for our program, you can swing by the library to pick up your copy! New Policy: If you register for the children's book club and don't attend (without canceling your registration by the start of the program) twice in a row, you will not be able to register for children's book club for two months.
Our November book is Mexikid by Pedro Martin. This book is part of the Big Read Lakeshore 2024. Pedro Martín has grown up hearing stories about his abuelito—his legendary crime-fighting, grandfather who was once a part of the Mexican Revolution! But that doesn't mean Pedro is excited at the news that Abuelito is coming to live with their family. After all, Pedro has 8 brothers and sisters and the house is crowded enough! Still, Pedro piles into the Winnebago with his family for a road trip to Mexico to bring Abuelito home, and what follows is the trip of a lifetime, one filled with laughs and heartache. Along the way, Pedro finally connects with his abuelito and learns what it means to grow up and find his grito.
