Learn a new quilting technique: Mosaic Quilting!
Intermediate, adult class. Free.
This 3 hr. class is taken from the book “Mini-Mosaic Quilts” by Paula Doyle. The book explains the techniques, offers various small projects and includes a 30 block “Sampler Quilt.” In this class we will be making just one of these blocks to learn some of the techniques for this fun method of quilting that is adaptable to many standard quilt block patterns. The block we will be making is called “Fun Festival” and requires very little fabric.

Type of fabric required: For this block you will need a dark and a light of red, blue, yellow and green materials. You will also need a light background color. The fabric can be plain, tone-on-tone, single color batiks, or very small prints. Keep the contrast between the dark and light of each fabric high so that each color shows up well.

How much fabric is required:
From each color fabric (the reds, blues, yellows and greens) you will need to cut a strip of material 1 ½” wide by at least 15.”  Your light background color will require 2 strips of material, both 2” wide, with a total length of at least 60”.

Notions or Tools needed:
Scissors or snips, Pins, Seam Ripper, Neutral Thread, Glue stick, 20 1 ½ squares of wax paper, (Use an old rotary
cutter blade to cut these, 9 ¼” square of sheer or featherweight fusible Interfacing, a small pair of scissors with sharp tips to cut open ¼” seams.
