Program Description

Event Details

Get inspired by the past! In this new program, we will read a picture book biography about a real-life hero, trailblazer, or changemaker, then bring history to life with a fun craft or hands-on activity. From artists and activists to scientists and explorers, each session highlights someone who made a difference in the world.

September History Makers: Cubs in the Tub

This September, we're reading "Cubs in the Tub" by Candace Fleming - the amazing true story of Helen Martini, the Bronx Zoo's first female zookeeper!

Discover how Helen broke barriers in the 1960s, from bottle-feeding tiger cubs in her own bathtub to proving that women could handle any zookeeping job. After hearing her inspiring story, we'll create our own tiger craft to take home.

What's included: Story time along with some free-flowing discussion and a tiger craft

Come learn about a trailblazing woman who followed her dreams and changed the world - one tiger cub at a time!
