Event Details

Learn how to make Half Square Triangle Blocks with quilter Melissa Huisman. Class is $10/person, payable at the class. 

Skill level: Beginner with working knowledge of a sewing machine. 

Materials needed for EACH block: Quilting cotton: Two 9” squares of fabric – one dark and one light.* 

Notions: thread 

Equipment/Tools: Pins, scissors, seam ripper, marker for drawing or marking lines, 12 – 24” ruler, square ruler with a diagonal line, rotary cutter and mat, sewing machine.

Provided: Iron, ironing surface. 

Skills learned: Drawing lines, sewing beside lines at ¼”, cutting triangles apart, pressing toward the dark side, trimming half square triangles, triangle pattern design possibilities (at least 72!), merging triangle patterns, and sewing the block - including how to press seams and construct the block in rows.
